Prescription Refill Request:

  • NO MEDICATIONS WILL BE REFILLED AFTER OFFICE HOURS, ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
  • DO NOT LEAVE ANY REFILL RELATED MESSAGES ON THE ANSWERING SYSTEM
  • DO NOT SEND ANY EMAILS REQUESTING MEDICATION REFILLS

For routine refills call your pharmacist with your prescription number a minimum of 48 hours before you need the medication. Some prescriptions cannot be refilled without an office visit. Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, etc. always get sufficient medication until the next visit. When you are running out of medications you probably need a check up by your physician. Prescriptions for antibiotics and controlled substances will not be filled without an office visit. It is our office policy not to issue triplicate prescription, or change one triplicate prescription for another, without being seen by a physician. Lost or stolen triplicate prescriptions may be replaced. This office does not support any addiction to opiates or any prescription requiring medications. If you feel that you have developed an addition to opiates we will help you treat your addiction.

All prescriptions are sent electronically and they are in your pharmacy before you arrive. If you change the pharmacy be sure to inform the receptionist so your prescriptions will be sent to the right place. Pharmacies that cannot accept electronic prescription requests will receive faxed prescriptions directly from your electronic health record. Pharmacies receive hundreds of faxes, and it is our experience that some faxes may get lost.

Pharmacy can request a refill of your prescriptions electronically or by fax at (949) 661- 8269, and their request will be either approved or denied. Refills are done only during regular office hours. Dr. Harwer reviews electronic prescription requests from pharmacies several times a day. Dr. Harwer never denies a prescription without a review of your medical record. In most cases denial represents the need for a follow up office visit.
